My son loves ‘chook chooks’ (his little name for those cute, fluffy mini Easter chickens) so I thought I’d make some fun Chook Chook Mallow Pops with him in mind :) Now this is definitely not one for the lunchbox but it does make a fab Easter treat!

Chook Chook Mallow Pops

You will need:

1. White chocolate buttons

2. Shredded coconut

3. Orange lolly snakes (we used Natural Confectionery)

4. Large tube shaped marshmallows (we used the white ones as they have no colouring in them)

5. Mini white tube shaped marshmallows

6. A zip lock bag

7. Yellow food colouring (we use Hoppers natural food colouring)

8. Black fine tip FooDoodler (in the picture is our Food Drawing Pen as I was going to use this however I ended up going with the fine tip FooDoodler instead so lets just pretend that’s whats in the pic hehe)

9. Lollipop sticks (available from any cake decorating store or Spotlight)

How to:

Step 1 colouring the coconut:

1. Place coconut into zip lock bag

2. Add a few drops of food colouring to the bag

3. Push all the air out of the bag and zip closed and massage/rub the colouring around the coconut (add more colouring if needed/desired)

4. Once evenly mixed tip coconut into a bowl for coating the chook chooks later

Step 2 preparing the eyes and beaks:

Step 3:

Step 4 coating the mallow pops:

Step 5 decorating the mallow pops:

Step 6 is just those finishing touches such as coating the mallow pop in coconut, I didn’t photo this as I got a bit distracted as I was trying to work quickly before the chocolate set and it wasn’t very impressive anyway (I just held them over them over the coconut bowl and threw coconut on them lol) and drawing black dots in the centre of the mini marshmallows for the eyes, once completed you’ll have your self a super cute Easter treat :)
